About Rossi Photography

Italian by heritage but born and raised in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. My interest in photography developed on a family day trip up the Indian Arm to Granite Falls in the northern region of the Burrard Inlet, British Columbia. Departing from Coal Harbor, Vancouver, we sailed on the heritage styled SS Beaver steamship. Several hours later upon arrival I was disappointed to discover Granite Falls was not a roaring cascade of thundering water. Normally it's quite the natural spectacle but in the middle of the summer the impressive water fall tends to mellow out.

Regardless, my parents Guiseppe and Carmelina asked me to take a snap shot of them using the falls as a backdrop. As my father handed me his chrome 127 Comet camera I was feeling a bit timid as I had never taken a photo before in my 12 years of youth. After squinting through the tiny square viewfinder and hearing that distinct shutter click, wow, I was instantly hooked!

I had this surging feeling that I could be good at this! Maybe Granite Falls was trickling, but that first shutter click kick-started a torrent of creativity inside me.

Granite Falls is an inspiring setting and I quickly exposed all of my parents black & white film. Despite the now empty camera situation, on the sailing trip home I took pictures of everything. Since that memorable day my image crafting career has followed various paths accumulating much knowledge, creativity and passion.

For myself, crafting images is one of life's pleasures, especially images that evoke thought, feelings and have longevity.
